Breast cancer remains a worldwide public health issue that is the most common tumor in the world. New advancements in breast imaging has made it easier to spot breast tumors and helped lead to an increase in awareness and diagnosis of breast cancer. Unfortunately, despite all the strides we’ve made, breast cancer continues to take the lives of millions of women every year. For two decades, studies have led to astonishing new discoveries on the cause and treatment of breast cancer—and our scientists are still pushing for even more efficient treatments for a cure. Due to its life-threatening nature, post-menopausal women account for 23% of all cancer deaths as well as 23% of all cases of breast cancer worldwide. However, due to lack of self-exams and clinical exams that missed this killer during early stages, many cancers go undetected until they have progressed into later stages.

Women face many challenges to their health, with the risk of breast cancer among them. There are many influential factors that contribute to this risk such as being a woman, getting older and having a family history of breast or ovarian cancer. It is crucial that women reduce the risks through making healthy lifestyle choices and other safe practices.
